| The team
As is standard practice, our team consists of translators, proofreaders, project managers, terminology experts, documentation managers, quality personnel, editing personnel etc. But our human resources management is what makes the difference. For each new project we organize ourselves into working teams in which each one of us plays a highly coordinated role; combining efforts in order to assure the quality of the final product and to benefit our clients in the best possible way.
It might be said that the translator is the core of the translation process; and this is true. But it is the project manager that is responsible for listening to the client and grasping the essence of their demands. The project manage assumes the responsibility for quality of customer service. and carries out the analysis and planning for the project and decides the deadline for the translation according to its volume and complexity. It is the project manager that selects the most suitable translators according to the characteristics of the document, ensuring when possible that each individual client is assisted by the same team of translators. The document manager also plays an important role by reviewing, along with the P M the databases and selecting the translation memories; the client terminology references; glossaries and other electronic supporting materials etc. Following this the Project manager coordinates, supervises and distributes the information to all the project team members and to the client in order to keep the client informed of the translation process as well as any possible obstacles. Experienced translators perform the translation with the aid of previously gathered information (CAT tools, glossaries and terminology databases etc.) while using their own knowledge and experiences on the subject. They update the terminology glossaries and highlight any doubts they may have had and the solutions provided. They also inform the client of unsolved problems along with the corresponding documented suggestions so as to find a satisfactory solution. The work performed by the editing personnel and the proofreaders is no less important. They have the considerable responsibility of polishing the quality of the final document. Finally, the Project Manager has the ultimate responsibility for checking the final product, and writing a report to the client, if needed, to point out any specific issue that needs be taken into consideration. Following this the PM will organize the delivery of the document. |
